This weekend, AAPC Publishing will be a proud exhibitor at the 22nd Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (CARD) Conference at the Florida Hotel & Conference Center in Orlando, Florida. This two-day conference begins at on Saturday, January 17, and concludes January 18.

The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) are a system of regional autism supports that provides consultation, training and individualized support to help children and adults with autism, dual sensory impairments, and related disabilities reach their potential. With a strong and diverse staff of professionals, CARD provides consultative support and training in a variety of real-life settings, including the person’s home, schools, job site or wherever assistance is requested (WHAT IS CARD?, 2014). CARD also offers comprehensive training to the public and assists the community to build programs that include best practices in supporting individuals with autism and related disabilities.

Keynotes and breakout sessions will be conducted by top professionals and influential people in the autism community. AAPC author Kathy Oehler (I Hate to Write) will be speaking on Implementing Evidence- Based Practices to Increase Writing Skills in Students With ASD.

Throughout the conference attendees can take part in various special events. This year, there will be three, 50-minute Lunch & Learn Sessions where attendees can enjoy their lunch while learning from a variety of speakers, including John Miller (Autism & the Myth of Normality), Jenny and Brent Anderson (Empowering Though Supported Entrepreneurship), and Raymond T. Heipp (Making Sense of Technology Meet NAO). Attendees will also get the opportunity to meet with, take photos of, and get books signed by presenters.

Meet and greet CARD staff, professionals, and other families at a special Reception Network Dinner on Saturday night. This will be a great opportunity to network while listening to the sounds of talented musicians with and without ASD.

Sunday morning, raffle tickets will be handed out when entering the keynote session. Winners will receive exciting prizes such as iPads, gift certificates, games, hotel stays and more! The drawing will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday.
