AAPC's Intimate Relationships and Sexual Health Book Meets National Sexuality Education Standards

National Sexuality Education Standards

On January 9, 2012, four leading health organizations released the first-ever national standards for sexuality education in schools. The ground-breaking National Sexuality Education Standards: Core Content and Skills, K-12 provide “clear, consistent, and straightforward guidance on the essential minimum, core content for sexuality education that is developmentally and age-appropriate for students in grades Kindergarten through grade 12” (National Sexuality Education Standards [NSES], 2012).

A new book published by AAPC, Intimate Relationships and Sexual Health: A Curriculum for Teaching Adolescents/Adults With High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders and Other Social Challenges(Davies & Dubie, 2012), not only utilizes evidence-based practices for students with autism spectrum disorders but also addresses many of the areas outlined by the national standards.

Please view the PDF below for the complete list of National Sexuality Education Standards and topics as they relate to Intimate Relationships and Sexual Health.
