Customer Review: Amazon Customer - Perfect for young adults on the spectrum, or early teens through adult wishing to improve social skills on and off the network. Easy to read, just the right touch. I am a Psychiatric NP and plan to keep copies in my offices to show parents.

Customer Review: Victoria - Working with young adults with ASD and their families, I find this book to be invaluable in sharing the pros/cons of social media. It provides real life situations, with blunt, bold language. Parents - be sure to take a look at this book before purchasing for your child. To my knowledge, this is the only resource that tells it like it is about social media.

A great book for kids to help them spend less time on-line and more time engaging with appropriate and satisfying friends in the real, 3-D world.

This book does an awesome job of explaining social networking in a highly systemized and honest way. It almost reads like a flow chart, which makes confusing information a lot less confusing. Klipper and Shapiro-Rieser have not skirted any of the hard or scary issues, opening the door for some good, frank discussion. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever been confused by a social interaction in real time or online. Actually, I would recommend it to anyone who uses the Internet to communicate, ever.

As a mother of a son with autism and as a social worker, I’m really impressed with the book The Secret Rules of Social Networking. It is so helpful to have such a comprehensive overview on how to communicate, who to communicate with and what to communicate about. The authors aren’t afraid to address challenging topics and provide situations that clearly spell out what is appropriate and inappropriate behavior and communication to use online and offline. Although this book was prepared to help guide young people with autism or other social disabilities, I think there is information here that can help all young people starting out with using social media. It’s also a very helpful book for parents and social workers as they try to steer their own children or clients towards appropriate online communication.
